Our History

Pietermaritzburg Catering Equipment was established in 1999. Maureen Govender joined the company in 2008 with a background in the hospitality industry as well as the retail part of it and moved on to become a partner in 2010. Rani Padayachee joined the company in 2012, coming from a photographic equipment sales background. Her strong interest in the industry made the transition a very smooth one. With a combined total of over 25 years in the industry Rani and Maureen have become owners of Pietermaritzburg Catering Equipment in 2012, making it one of very few, if not the only women-owned catering supply companies in South Africa. Their loyal and dynamic team forms the heartbeat of their success story and their focus is centralised on not only growing the company but each and every employee individually.

Geographically we cover Kwa-Zulu Natal Province, Free State, Gauteng, Mozambique, Swaziland, Namibia, Zimbabwe and beyond our national borders to Mauritius and Australia.

With superior service, competence and creativity, our mission is to be a leader in the Catering Equipment Industry to benefit the local and national hospitality sector.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES

Not only do we specialise in retail of a wide variety of catering equipment, but we also have a dynamic team of designers that assist in the roll-out of fully fitted catering kitchens, restaurants, hospitals, coffee shops and hotels. Some of our fitted kitchens are in Gateway, Kwa-Dukuza, Vryheid and Edenvision private hospitals. Our reach extends to all the major hotels in the central Drakensberg including Champagne Sports Resort, Drakensberg Sun and Champagne Castle Hotel. We supply equipment to a series of private schools in the Midlands such as Michalhouse, Treverton, St John’s, St Charles and Maritzburg College to name a few. Capitol Caterers, Compass Group and Fedics are some of the contract caterers we work with regularly. Our long list of clientele includes the likes of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife and extends to more local supporters including The Dunranch Group, Muirheads Hiring, Jayzz Grill, Wimy, Debonairs and Steers. Not only do we cover Kwa-Zulu Natal but the rest of South Africa as well. We are also able to supply customers outside of the borders of South Africa. We have a professional team in place to take care of all our equipment repairs. We pride ourselves in excellent service that leads to lasting relationships, and our aim is to guide our customers in finding the products that suit their type of business.

Our success is not only a result of great service, but also high quality equipment and we are proud to have formed long term business relationships with the likes of BCE Foodservice Equipment, Continental China and others who always go the extra mile in ensuring we achieve these service levels.
